Do You Want to Know the Inspirations of the Upcoming Series “WandaVision”?

A new report has suggested that the upcoming Disney+ series “WandaVision” starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany took some inspiration from the hit sitcoms like Modern Family and The Office.

Yes, WandaVision was massively inspired by the Sofia Vergara starrer Modern Family and John Krasinski starrer Office.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has recently given an interview to the Empire Magazine in which he has affirmed that the eagerly awaited Disney+ tv series “WandaVision” will not only pay its respects to the old sitcoms like “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “I love Lucy,” but it will also draw influences from the contemporary shows like “Modern Family” and “Office.”

The interesting similarity between “Modern Family” and “Office” is that both the series were shown in a peculiar mockumentary-style format.

Feige shared in the interview that he has always been a big fan of the TV series and especially of the likes of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “I Love Lucy,” and “Bewitched.” Marvel boss also added that he is a great fan of the camera work done in “Modern Family” and “Office,” especially with the aspects of “talking to the camera,” “shaky camera,” and the “documentary style.”

According to the official synopsis revealed by Marvel, the series will be set in the 50s America, and it will explore the characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision (played by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, respectively). The series will embed the themes of classical sitcoms with the architecture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wanda and Vision, two characters having out of the world abilities, slowly begin to doubt the nature of their reality.

Some set photos have also revealed that the upcoming series will also feature S.W.O.R.D, a division within the hierarchy of the S.H.I.E.L.D. It was formed specifically to deal with the security concerns caused by the extra-terrestrial forces. However, we still do not know whether the prominent comic characters associated with S.W.O.R.D like Abigail Brand will be featured in the tv series or not. However, there are plenty of reasons you should be excited about the tv series, one of which is that the series will mark the first arrival from the list of Phase 4 projects, and it will also be a debut series of the Fox-Disney integration.

Apart from Olsen and Bettany, the series will feature many old characters like Darcy Lewis (played by Kat Dennings) and F.B.I. officer Jimmy Woo (played by Randall Park). Darcy Lewis was last seen in the second Thor film titled Thor: The Dark World, while Jimmy Woo was seen in the 2018 film Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Another interesting character who appears in the tv series is the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau (the child version of the character did appear in the Brie Larson starrer Captain Marvel). Actresses Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris will make their MCU debut in the series.

Matt Shakman has helmed the series, which will arrive on Disney+ on January the 15th, 2021.

The greatest aspect of the upcoming series is that it will provide a premise to the most anticipated film of MCU Phase 4, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
