My Hero Academia: The most popular characters on the show

There is no dearth of heroes on My Hero Academia, and it makes sense since the show is set in the make-believe world where teenagers study to become heroes, and it is treated like any other job. There are strict rules regarding the use of superhero powers (called Quirks), and everything is regulated by the government to make sure that there is no misuse of powers. The show has been a massive success ever since its release and has continued to gain popularity. So, it’s no surprise the characters on the show have their own fanbase. Here are the few of them who have amassed a huge fan following –

Shoto Todoroki

One of the strongest and promising students of class 1-A, Shoto Todoroki makes himself stand out because of his extremely powerful Quirk, which is made even more dangerous by his hard work and dedication. His tragic past of abuse by his own father and the illness of mother has made his resolve, even more, stronger to become a hero strong enough to surpass even All Might. In the first few episodes, he might seem like an extremely inconsiderate and self-centred boy but later when his inner conflicts surface, he struggles and overcomes them to finally reveal a much kinder and compassionate side which makes his character seem more heroic. Even though he is the son of number two hero, Endeavor, he never likes to get any attention by using him as he wants to make a name for himself and stand out on his own. Shoto Todoroki is undoubtedly going to become a great hero since he not only has a powerful Quirk but a kind and compassionate heart to go with it.

Katsuki Bakugo

Bakugo is the childhood friend of the protagonist Izuku Midoriya, but he always looked down on him. He has too much pride, and his obsession with himself sometimes appears to be maniacal. His narcissism always brings him down as he is unable to give his best. But his powers are not to be underestimated. He has a very powerful explosive Quirk which he has mastered with years of practice and perseverance. He thinks of All Might as his ideal, but since he has so much pride, he never admits it, he often tells others that he will become stronger than All Might. His eccentric nature makes it hard for anyone to get to know him initially, but with time he changes a little as he makes a few friends. In the third season after he confronts Izuku about his inherited powers he changes radically and becomes much more helpful and less condescending.

All Might

The number one hero, All Might is in a league of his own. He has stood the test of time and protected people for decades, putting his body on the line. Even though he has serious injuries, he never backs down from challenges and keeps helping others. When Bakugo is kidnapped, All Might puts himself at great risk to find him, but he is surprised to know that One for All is back with his sinister plans. He has even become stronger than last time, but that changes nothing for All Might, even with all his injuries he fights him and puts every bit of energy that is left in him and successfully defeats him once again. But it comes at a great cost as he loses almost all of his powers, he stands as a pillar of hope for everyone, especially for the heroes of the future who see him as their ideal. All Might may not be as strong as he used to be, but that doesn’t mean that his popularity is decreasing, after retiring he has taken the responsibility to nurture Izuku’s talent and remains just as relevant as before.

Ochaco Uraraka

Ochaco Uraraka may be one of the best friends of the protagonist Izuku, but that does not mean that there is not more to her character than that. She too just like others aspires to be a hero, but he has unique reasons as she wants to help her parents financially since they are struggling to make ends meet. Even though she has feelings for Izuku, she decides not to tell him as she wants to be focused on her goals and work towards them. Her loss to Bakugo does not wither her confidence as she becomes even more relentless in pursuits of his ambitions.

Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya is the protagonist of the show, but initially, when the show started, it did not seem to be so. Izuku is a Quirkless boy in a world where 80 percent of people have Quirks. Ever since he was little, he wanted to be like All Might and save others, but he is disappointed to find out that he can never be a hero. But even though everyone tells him that he should forget about his dreams, Izuku is not the kind to give up. He keeps learning about heroes and their Quirks even though it might not make sense. But everything changes when he meets All Might and shows his courage in a desperate situation. All Might impressed by his courage chooses him as his successor and gives him One for All quirk. Izuku does not let All Might down as he gives his best in every situation, even putting his body through unimaginable pain. It is no surprise that he ranks as one of the most popular characters on the show. His struggles relate to the audience who aspire to do great things but are discouraged by society.
