Microsoft Extension: How to Install Chrome Extensions

Microsoft Edge took a lot of time to gain popularity and user confidence, mainly because it is still not available on many platforms. However, with its increasing market share, presently at 7.48%, Edge is increasing its functionality. Microsoft Edge is doing all it can to enhance performance, and for that, Edge has now combined a lot of Chrome features with it. To install Chrome extensions on Microsoft Edge, you need to download it first. To do so, you can go to Microsoft’s official website, and your browser will do the rest with a few clicks. Edge is currently accessible for Windows 10 and macOS users, plus for Android and iOS users.

Installing the Extensions

Once you have installed Edge on your PC, you can go ahead and add extensions to it. Follow the instructions below to do so: 

Step 1: Open the Microsoft Edge’s browser window and click on the triple-dot icon located towards the top-right on the screen.

Step 2: Scan the list to find an option named “Extensions.” Click on it to move ahead.

Step 3: This will open a new tab from where you can choose the available extensions to add to Edge. Select the extension and follow the on-screen prompts to install it successfully.

Turning On the Third-Party Extensions

Adding extensions from third-parties is as easy as it can be. All you need to do is open the same extensions tab, which you opened using the instructions above and look for an option titled “Allow extensions from other stores.” You will find a toggle switch next to this option. Slide to the ‘On’ position. Then, you will get a warning message saying, “Microsoft hasn’t verified the extensions in the Chrome web store.” Ignore this warning without worrying and hit the “Allow” button to move on.

Adding Extensions

Now, navigate to Google’s listings of extensions by clicking on the Web Store displayed on a new tab screen. Alternatively, you can type “Google Chrome Extensions” in Google’s search bar to open the extensions page. On this page, you will find various Google extensions. You can choose from the attachments labeled “Add to Chrome” in blue and click on “Add extension” to add it to Edge. A pop-up message will appear with a warning message. Ignore the warning and hit the Confirm button. 

How to Uninstall the Chrome Extensions

Uninstalling Chrome extensions is easier than installing them. All you need to do is open the “Extensions” tab to view all the installed extensions. Simply click the “Remove” button next to whichever extension you want to get rid of. 

Edge has recently started gaining popularity among the users. It already allows you to add extensions to it, suggesting that this browser will soon be flooded with many personalization features.
