The director of Jurassic World: Dominion, Colin Trevorrow, confirms that the team has restarted the film’s shooting. They also have released the photo of the original cast outside England’s studio. The last two sequels of the franchise were supposed to end shooting during the summer. However, the production work got delayed due to the pandemic coronavirus, which caused shutting down the production for around six months. A few weeks ago, the shooting was again halted as several crew members tested COVID-19 positive when just three scheduled weeks of the shooting remained.
Jurassic Park, also known as Jurassic World, is a science fiction film centered around the disastrous attempt of building a world of cloned dinosaurs. The franchise is based on the novel written by author Michael Crichton and filmmaker Steven Spielberg adapted the novel into a film in 1993. After the first film’s success, the team released the sequel titled, The Lost World in 1997; the film is also an adaptation of the 1995 novel. There are numerous comic books and Video games based on the franchise. Jurassic World franchise generated around $5 billion in 2000, making it the highest-grossing media franchise of all time.
The upcoming movie Jurassic World: Dominion is the sixth installment of the Jurassic franchise, directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael. The film is a sequel to the 2018 movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The project includes many old casts along with the new ones. Fans can see Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Sam Neill, Daniella Pineda, Jeff Goldblum, Justice Smith, BD Wong, and Omar Sy in their previous characters.
The shooting of the movie started in February 2020 in Canada and various locations in England. And the production work was halted due to the safety reason for COVID-19. However, the delays have not affected the plot and storyline. And after years, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum return together to the franchise since the 1993 movie. The story will wrap up the first Jurassic Park and the current one showing the dinosaurs have escaped the island and are now running freely across the globe.
Recently, Trevorrow has shared a photo of Neil Dern picture and Goldblum on Twitter. They are at the Pinewood Studios in England, outside the Richard Attenborough stage. The photo is in black and white and posted with the caption “Back,” indicating the confirmation that the shooting has resumed after the lockdown of two-week.
The Attenborough stage in the image is not a coincidence, as Attenborough starred in the 2014 Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park as John Hammond. The tweeted picture depicts that all crew and cast of the project have returned to the shooting location and have tested negative for COVID-19. The production cost will undoubtedly shoot up after spending around $3 million only for COVID-19 testing.
The shooting delays allowed Trevorrow to start the CGI work and editing soon, leading to a few re-shoots. Hopefully, the franchise can complete its production without any further interruption, and the upcoming series will be able to win the fans’ hearts again after the last disappointing project. The audiences are waiting for the summer of 2022 for the next release of the franchise.
