Complete Notifications on Lock Screen

While using the latest model, you will realize that the device does not show all the contents of the latest alerts and notifications on your lock screen. Instead of getting a notification for individual conversation, you will receive a generic alert. Due to Apple’s Face ID tech, it aims to hide the notifications until you are free to use the phone. If you want to change or stop this feature, use the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Settings app and click on Notifications.
  2. Then, click on Show Previews and select Always.
  3. You can choose ‘Never’ if you want to keep the alerts and notifications hidden on your device’s lock screen.

App Library

If you are one of those people who don’t like to clutter their phone’s home screen and keep everything organized, then this feature is a boon for you. With the latest iOS 14 update, you can have more control over your home screen and customize everything accordingly. This update has introduced a feature called ‘App Drawer’ that allows the users to remove apps from their home screen without deleting them. It also enables you to customize the device’s look with impressive app icons and widgets. You can also determine the apps’ location, and if they go directly to the App Library, you can customize your choice.

Turn Off 5G Coverage

The latest iPhone 12 models are the first gadget from Apple that has support for 5G cellular connection. But many locations still don’t have better 5G network plans near them, making this feature futile for them. However, Apple has brought a Smart Data feature in this device that can automatically switch between 4G LTE and 5G networks or the basis of the device usage. This feature also improves battery life. You can also turn off the 5G feature and force the device to use 4G LTE at all times. Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Go to the Settings app of your device and click on Cellular.
  2. Select Cellular Data Options and choose Voice & Data.
  3. Now, tap on LTE.

Tweak the Data Consumption on 5G Connection

If you are satisfied with the 5G’s performance, you can also tweak a few things to make it better. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Open the Settings app and click on Cellular.
  2. Select Cellular Data Options and tap on the Data Mode.
  3. Doing so will bring you three options, i.e., Allow more data on 5G, Standard, and Low Data Mode. You will find the details for each option below its name.
  4. Choose either of these options based on the carrier and data plan you use.

Add an Alternate Face ID

You must be aware that Apple features a facial recognition unlock known as ‘Face ID.’ This feature continually learns and updates different angles of your face after every scan. If your device’s Face ID feature fails to recognize you, then you can try the Alternate Appearance function. To use this, open the Settings app of your device and click on Face ID & Passcode. Then, enter your device PIN and select Set Up an Alternate Appearance to re-enter your face for Face ID unlock.

Try Control Center

Control Center is a unique feature that brings you a convenient spot for completing minor tasks with ease and access to the options quickly. You can use it to connect to Wi-Fi, turn on the flashlight, change songs, start or stop screen recording, etc. All of these features are only a swipe and tap away. You can customize what you want to access quickly via the Control Center by going to the Settings. Then, click on the Control Centre and select Customize Controls. Use the add button to insert new options and the minus button for removing them. You can also change the position of the features by dragging them up/down with the help of a three-lined icon given on the right side of your screen.
