Steam Game Festival: Autumn Edition Is Now Live

The year 2020 didn’t start great. After back to back forest fires, the world was hit with the pandemic. But before that, everyone was excited about the launch of new hardware, gadgets, software updates, and whatnot. Massive companies like Microsoft and Sony had announced that soon they would be sharing their next-generation video game console platforms. Along with consoles, new games were also about to make an entry to the world of the gaming industry, but the pandemic ruined quite a lot of plans. Due to the rising threat, countries had to ban traveling, social gatherings, events, etc.

This is why many companies had to stop launching their products and services to avoid loss and lack of attention from the customers. Even the markets were shut down and were open only for a limited time to prevent the virus from spreading. Social distancing became the only safety norm for the world, and it turned out to be an obstacle for everyone to come under one roof and discuss new launches and events. This resulted in the cancellation of live events as well.

You might think that it has only affected the entertainment industry and small businesses, but the story is pretty much similar to the gaming industry as well. For the gaming industry, live events cancellation meant not launching or showcasing any video games to gaming enthusiasts. Not having any launch of the latest games stopped the players from playing and reviewing the next-generation technological advancements. A lot of video game distribution companies had to postpone the dates for launching any game as it would’ve been insensitive to introduce any project when the world was fighting for life.

Now that we don’t attend in-person events, we have to restrict ourselves to attend the online events as an alternative. Many companies recognized this method as the safest and beneficial way to introduce their devices, games, consoles, etc., and it doesn’t even violate the safety guidelines. In the past few months, many companies have restored to this alternative. Apart from devices, there is something in store for the gamers as well.

If you are into games, you probably know Steam – a video game digital distribution service- that is famous for its unique games in different categories. Currently, they are organizing an online gaming event that allows gamers to access multiple games’ demos for free.

All of these games will officially launch on Steam’s platform within the next six months. This event is called the Steam Game Festival: Autumn; it started this Wednesday and will continue until the 13th of October. From the search result, you will find about 120 ‘featured’ games but if you visit the Steam Demo page, you will find about 1140 games. You can also visit the Steam News Hub to explore the event’s previous developer’s spotlights, live gameplay streams, interviews, and more.
